Back to work: start the new year off on the right foot (and with the right heel)

The holiday season is slowly ending. A lot of you may be going back to work this week, others might be lucky enough to still be on holidays! Either way getting back to work after a long holiday can sometimes be daunting, you may be dreading it, or you may wish your holidays never end!

We have put together some ideas to help you get back to work refreshed, recharged and re-focused and help you start the year at work with a bang.

  • Set your intentions and goals for the new work year

Do you want to get a promotion at work?

Do you want to change your job?

Do you want to change industries or maybe even your career?!

Is there someone or something bothering you at work?

Once you know what you want to achieve start putting forward in motion goals and actions to get you where you want to be.

This way rather than dreading your current situation your new goal will start positively re-focusing your energy into achieving it.

  • Give yourself some time each morning before going to work

Sometimes we are so busy with everything that we forget to step back, breath and give ourselves time to recharge every day.

An idea would be to set your alarm every morning half an hour before the usual time.

Use that half an hour to do some stretches, do some meditation, go for a half an hour walk or any other type of exercise you may like, or simply wake up early grab a cup of coffee and read a book in bed.

If you have kids you may be thinking there is no way you can do this in the mornings! – ask your partner for help, wake up half an hour before everyone wakes up or give kiddies breakfast and whilst they eat you can get that half an hour for you.

No matter how you do it the important thing is that you give yourself this time to allow yourself to start the day with a positive vibe and feel.

  • Count your blessings and swap any negative mindset to positive

Four days ago I started counting back that I needed to go back to work on Monday (dreading the day my holidays would finish), my dad – who was holidaying with me and my family says to me: you should be thankful that you have a job and that you were able to take some time off with the family.

Honestly I didn’t need him to tell me (But thank you dad!).

Even though I was indeed counting back the days (just because I wanted to continue to enjoy my family during holidays rather than dreading going back to work) I was still allowing myself to think of the positive and blessings I have.

Needless to say it was just a good reminder to think about the positive in our lives instead of the negatives.

Changing our mindset changes the perspective on everything.

  • Get yourself a new work wardrobe!

This is probably my fav point :P.

What better than start a new working year than with a new  working outfit!

I am going to be biased here but consider getting yourself some stand-out-from the crowd comfortable heels!

Our Maya Pumps are a high heel that despite its 11cms heel height its actually super comfy! It has an internal platform, memory foam insole and an ankle strap to give extra support.
